Angie's Dance Academy UK is your friendly neighbourhood community dance school, with classes in Potters Bar and the surrounding areas. We off a variety of dance styles for every age, every experience and every interest - from little ones just starting out, to adults wanting to have fun and keep moving.
We believe dance is for everyone. No matter your ability, your prior experience, or your comfort level - you are welcome here. Our goal is to build an environment where you can learn, feel confident, have fun, and grow a genuine love and respect for the art of dance. We especially welcome and support students with special educational needs, physical limitations and disabilities, because everyone deserves to share in the joy of movement.
Our classes are held at welcoming venues - local church halls and community centres in Potters Bar and the surrounding areas - making them accessible and affordable for our local community. Every session has a positive, safe and friendly vibe so that students can relax, enjoy themselves, and fully embrace the experience of dance. You'll feel our love for dancing and you'll know you're part of something warm and inclusive.
Originally founded as Sallianne’s Dance Studio by Sallianne Cornell, the school offered dance classes in Brookmans Park. As the dance school grew in size, classes were moved to the Royal Vet College, Little Heath and finally to Tilbury Hall at Potters Bar United Reformed Church.
The school initially offered disco dancing classes for both children and adults, adult ballroom, and Latin group classes and private lessons. As line dancing began to grow in popularity, Sallianne changed the adult disco dancing classes to offer line dancing instead.
In 2004 Angie took over the line dancing classes from Sallianne, having helped with classes for over ten years. In 2012, with Sallianne no longer able to run the classes, Angie bought the school, rebranding it as Angie’s Dance Academy.
Today the school is known as Angie’s Dance Academy UK and continues to provide dance classes for children’s and adults. Over the years the children’s disco dancing classes have evolved, first to freestyle which covers genres such as street, commercial and lyrical as well as the traditional disco dance style, and then to Popdance which teaches fun dance routines to pop music. The adult classes have grown to include Latin in line, Popdance Inclusive and dance aerobics.
